The secret is in the cacao - real, ceremonial cacao that brings depth of flavour and all the good stuff: magnesium, flavanols, antioxidants. None of that gets lost here because nothing gets heated.
Ingredients
Base
- 8 Medjool dates, pitted and chopped
- ½ cup rolled oats
- ½ cup coconut flakes
- ¼ cup ceremonial cacao powder
- 1 tbsp peanut butter
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp water
Chocolate Topping
- 1 tbsp coconut oil, melted
- 1 tbsp natural sweetener (honey, maple syrup, or coconut sugar)
- 1 tbsp ceremonial cacao powder
Method
- Add all base ingredients to a food processor and blend until a sticky, well-combined mixture forms.
- Press firmly into a lined baking tray or glass container, smoothing the surface evenly.
- Mix together the melted coconut oil, sweetener, and cacao powder until smooth. Pour over the base and spread evenly.
- Refrigerate for 1-2 hours until set.
- Dust with extra cacao, slice, and enjoy.
- Store in the fridge in an airtight container for up to one week.
